Emotion islands are customizable, abstract virtual spaces that represent emotions. These personal islands are created by individuals to represent various emotional states (corresponding to Russel's Circumplex Model of Affect). They exist in virtual reality as spaces for personal and social experiences. We believe that these spaces can help emotional awareness when experienced individually and emotional communication when experienced socially. Currently, remote communication is the use case we are focusing on. We base our work on the concepts of ambiguity and performativity.
